SJR59,1,63Whereas, Wisconsin is home to over 11,000 amateur radio operators,
4commonly known as hams, who have been a vital part of our communities,
5providing reliable communication support during emergencies and public service
6events; and
SJR59,1,97Whereas, Wisconsins numerous amateur radio clubs have been instrumental
8in promoting technical education, community service, and emergency preparedness
9throughout the state; and
SJR59,1,1410Whereas, amateur radio operators in Wisconsin partner with organizations
11such as ARES (Amateur Radio Emergency Service), RACES (Radio Amateur Civil
12Emergency Service), and local emergency management agencies to provide
13dependable backup communications during times of crisis, ensuring public safety
14and continuity of service when traditional systems fail; and

1Whereas, the American Radio Relay League (ARRL), the leading organization
2for amateur radio in the U.S., has designated June 22 to 28, 2025, as Amateur
3Radio Week to recognize the contributions of amateur radio operators nationwide;
4now, therefore, be it

6State Legislature proclaims the week of June 22 to June 28, 2025, as Amateur
7Radio Week in Wisconsin and commends the states amateur radio operators for
8their dedication and service to the community.
