1Relating to: congratulating Knights of Columbus Council 499 for achieving a
2century of compassionate commitment to service of the Church, their
3community, and their fellow man.
SJR48,1,64Whereas, Knights of Columbus Council 499 is celebrating 125 years of support
5of the Catholic Church and the community at large by exemplifying the principles of
6charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism; and
SJR48,1,117Whereas, Council 499s distinguished history began on June 17, 1900, when it
8became the first Knights of Columbus council established in Wisconsin, and with
9its highly esteemed Grand Knight, William Dwyer, the charter members of Council
10499 provided the necessary guidance for establishing local councils throughout the
11state and Midwest region; and
SJR48,2,412Whereas, today, the 105 members of Council 499 remain true to the mission of
13charity through countless hours of volunteer service, which provides much needed
14financial resources to such worthy causes as Cathedral School and parish education

1programs of St. Anthony in Lake Nebagamon and St. Francis Xavier and St.
2Anthony in Superior as well as the Challenge Center, which serves adults with
3developmental disabilities, and disaster relief funds to assist families and
4individuals who have been struck by tragedy; now, therefore, be it
SJR48,2,85Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the Wisconsin
6Legislature does hereby congratulate Knights of Columbus Council 499 for
7achieving a century of compassionate commitment to service of the Church, their
8community, and their fellow man.
