SJR41,1,53Whereas, 2025 marks the 50th anniversary of the conclusion of the Vietnam
4War and the Secret War in Laos, conflicts that significantly impacted the lives of
5millions in Southeast Asia; and
SJR41,1,76Whereas, 2025 also marks the 50th anniversary of the Fall of Phnom Penh in
7Cambodia in 1975; and
SJR41,1,118Whereas, in the aftermath of these events, a substantial number of
9individuals of diverse ethnicity from Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam sought refuge
10and resettled in the United States, enriching our nation with their diverse cultures,
11traditions, and contributions; and
SJR41,1,1412Whereas, such communities largely resettled in Wisconsin, overcoming
13adversity to establish vibrant communities that have significantly contributed to
14the social, cultural, and economic fabric of our state; and

1Whereas, Wisconsin is now home to the third-largest Hmong population in the
2United States, with communities thriving in cities like Appleton, Sheboygan, Green
3Bay, Wausau, and Milwaukee; and
SJR41,2,64Whereas, it is fitting and proper to honor and commemorate the enduring
5strength, cultural heritage, and contributions of these Southeast Asian American
6communities on this significant anniversary; now, therefore, be it
SJR41,2,117Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the members of
8the Wisconsin Legislature honor the resilience of Southeast Asian American
9communities by commemorating the 50th anniversary of the conclusion of the
10Vietnam War, the conclusion of the Secret War in Laos, and the Fall of Phnom Penh
11in Cambodia in 1975.
