SJR64,,33Whereas, Grace Stanke of Wausau, Wisconsin, has won the title of Miss America 2023, becoming the third Wisconsin woman to hold this title; and SJR64,,44Whereas, Grace Stanke first competed in the Miss Wisconsin competition in 2021 as Miss Madison and won the competition in 2022 as Miss Badgerland; and SJR64,,55Whereas, Grace Stanke is the first woman to have been selected as both Miss Wisconsin’s Outstanding Teen (2017) and Miss Wisconsin (2022); and SJR64,,66Whereas, Grace Stanke is an accomplished classical violinist and won the Miss America talent scholarship with her performance of “Storm” from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons; and SJR64,,77Whereas, Grace Stanke has won over $68,000 in scholarships through the Miss America Organization; and SJR64,,88Whereas, Grace Stanke is studying nuclear engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison; and SJR64,,99Whereas, Grace Stanke is dedicated to her social impact initiative, “Clean Energy, Cleaner Future,” which aims to help the country convert to zero-carbon energy; and SJR64,,1010Whereas, Grace Stanke is passionate about inspiring girls and young women to study in STEM fields; now, therefore, be it SJR64,,1111Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the Wisconsin Legislature does hereby congratulate Grace Stanke on winning the 2023 Miss America pageant and wish her all the best during her reign as Miss America.
