This bill appropriates $4,000,000 in the 2023-25 fiscal biennium to the Department of Justice so that DOJ may award grants to school boards or governing bodies of private schools to acquire proactive metallic and nonmetallic threat detection equipment and software. The bill provides that if a 2023 bill creating the grant program is not enacted into law, the appropriation of the money for the grant program by this bill is void.

SB929,,66(1) Reconciliation provision. If 2023 Assembly Bill 542, as shown by Assembly Substitute Amendment 1, or 2023 Senate Bill 523, as shown by Senate Substitute Amendment (LRBs0192/1), is not enacted into law, then Section 2 of this act is void.

SB929,,88(1) Grant funding. In the schedule under s. 20.005 (3) for the appropriation to the department of justice under s. 20.455 (2) (f), the dollar amount for the 2023-24 fiscal year is increased by $4,000,000 to implement the grant program under s. 165.88 (3p).
