AB405,,33Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau This bill requires the Department of Administration to award a grant in the amount of $3,000,000 to A.F.A.R., Inc., doing business as The Ability Center, to assist The Ability Center to convert an existing park in southeast Wisconsin for the provision of recreation and rehabilitation opportunities for individuals with disabilities.

AB405,,44The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows: AB405,15Section 1. Nonstatutory provisions. AB405,,66(1) Grant to The Ability Center. (a) In this subsection: AB405,,771. “The Ability Center” means A.F.A.R., Inc., doing business as The Ability Center. AB405,,882. “Department” means the department of administration. AB405,,99(b) The legislature finds and determines that providing the citizens of this state affected by disabilities with a daily opportunity to be fit, active, and healthy, and to play, and that building communities where citizens of all abilities are provided a universal opportunity for health, wellness, and recreation is a statewide responsibility of statewide dimension. It is therefore in the public interest, and it is the public policy of this state, to assist The Ability Center to convert an existing park in southeast Wisconsin for the provision of recreation and rehabilitation opportunities for individuals with disabilities. AB405,,1010(c) From the appropriation under s. 20.505 (1) (a), in the 2023-24 fiscal year, the department shall award a grant in the amount of $3,000,000 to The Ability Center for the project specified in par. (b). AB405,211Section 2. Fiscal changes. AB405,,1212(1) Grant to The Ability Center. In the schedule under s. 20.005 (3) for the appropriation to the department of administration under s. 20.505 (1) (a), the dollar amount for fiscal year 2023-24 is increased by $3,000,000 to award the grant under Section 1 (1) of this act.
