SJR81,1,43 Whereas, on December 7, 1941, the Empire of Japan launched a surprise attack
4on the United States at the American naval base at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii; and
SJR81,1,65 Whereas, a total of 2,403 Americans were killed and 1,178 Americans were
6wounded during the attack; and
SJR81,1,87 Whereas, a total of 19 warships were damaged or destroyed from the attack;
8and
SJR81,1,109 Whereas, a total of 328 Navy and Army Air Corps aircraft were damaged or
10destroyed from the attack; and
SJR81,1,1311 Whereas, the attack on Pearl Harbor prompted President Franklin D.
12Roosevelt to deliver his `Day of Infamy Speech' to a joint session of the 77th United
13States Congress; and

6Wisconsin Legislature commemorate December 7, 2021, as the 80th anniversary of
7the attack on Pearl Harbor and pay tribute to the millions of Americans who served
8honorably during the Second World War.
