SJR37,1,42 Whereas, after a long and successful career in higher education, Dr. Lori
3Weyers, the President of the Northcentral Technical College, announced her
4forthcoming retirement in June 2021; and
SJR37,1,85 Whereas, she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and
6Behavioral Disabilities, Master of Science Degree in Rehabilitation
7Counseling/Administration, and her Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy
8Analysis from the University of Wisconsin-Madison; and
SJR37,1,129 Whereas, prior to serving as President of the Northcentral Technical College,
10she served as the Vice President for Learning at Northeast Wisconsin Technical
11College and as an executive dean, dean, coordinator, and faculty member at Fox
12Valley Technical College; and
SJR37,1,1513 Whereas, while serving as the President of the Northcentral Technical College
14for the last 15 years, she worked tirelessly to broaden access to education and
15increase students' educational and career opportunities; and

1Whereas, she launched the “Northcentral Technical College Promise,” or the
2“NTC Promise,” a program that provides free college tuition to qualified students for
3up to four consecutive semesters; and
SJR37,2,74 Whereas, Dr. Lori Weyers was instrumental in establishing Northcentral
5Technical College's Virtual College, a flexible online learning program that offers a
6number of associate degrees, technical diplomas, and certificates as well as
7professional development and continuing education courses; and
SJR37,2,98 Whereas, she expanded dual credit opportunities for high school students to
9earn college credits while still attending high school; and
SJR37,2,1110 Whereas, she fostered a historic credit transfer agreement with Wisconsin's
11private colleges and universities; and
SJR37,2,1412 Whereas, she signed a Liberal Arts Transfer program agreement with Madison
13College to give NTC students the opportunity to transfer to UW System schools or
14other higher educational institutions throughout the country; and
SJR37,2,1815 Whereas, recognizing that education is the great social equalizer, she played a
16pivotal role in reducing students' structural and financial barriers and in offering a
17number of innovative pathways for students to obtain the education and training
18they need to achieve their academic and career goals; and
SJR37,2,2119 Whereas, throughout her 42-year career in higher education, Dr. Lori Weyers
20has worked to ensure an affordable, flexible, high-quality education for countless
21students; now, therefore, be it
SJR37,2,24 22Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the members of the
23Wisconsin Legislature join in honoring the life and public service of Dr. Lori Weyers
24and wish her all the best in her retirement.
