SB640,1,2 1An Act to amend 342.06 (1) (j) of the statutes; relating to: disclosure of mileage

Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill provides that a person applying for a certificate of title for a motor
vehicle of a model year 2011 or later that is less than 20 years old must include a
disclosure of the vehicle's mileage as shown by the vehicle's odometer.
Under current law, the owner of a vehicle subject to registration must apply to
the Department of Transportation for a certificate of title for the vehicle when the
person first acquires or registers the vehicle. If the vehicle model year is less than
10 years old, the application for a certificate of title must include a disclosure of the
vehicle's mileage.
For further information see the state and local fiscal estimate, which will be
printed as an appendix to this bill.
