SB453,1,2 1An Act relating to: prior authorization of specially formulated nutritional
2supplements and replacements.

This bill removes the requirement under the administrative code that a
provider receive prior authorization from the Department of Health Services to
provide and receive reimbursement for medically necessary, specially formulated
supplements and replacement products administered by feeding tube or by injection,
infusion, or implantation into the body under the Medical Assistance program. The
Medical Assistance program is a joint federal and state program that provides health
services to individuals with limited financial resources.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:

5supplements and replacement products administered orally, including enteral and
6parenteral
products used for the treatment of severe health conditions such as

1pathologies of the gastrointestinal tract or metabolic disorders, as described in the
2MA provider handbooks and bulletins.
