Currently, health care providers, local health officers, and laboratories are
required to report certain information related to communicable disease cases to the
Department of Health Services. DHS and these reporters use the Wisconsin
Electronic Disease Surveillance System (WEDSS) to report this information. This
bill requires DHS to correct any inaccurate health information in any electronic
disease surveillance system, currently WEDSS, or other data collection system
related to communicable diseases within 60 days after DHS receives verification of
inaccurate information on the system.
