2021 Assembly RESOLUTION 23

AR23,1,2 Relating to: relocating the We the People mural to a place where it can be more commonly observed by the people.

AR23,1,3 Whereas, the Wisconsin State Capitol is “the people's building”; and

AR23,1,5 Whereas, a mural depicting the founding fathers as “we the people” is currently located in the basement of the Capitol; and

AR23,1,8 Whereas, displaying the mural in a secluded area, such as the basement, can be interpreted as a profound message, as the mural should be a constant reminder of what the legislature's focus should be on; and

AR23,1,11 Whereas, the mural is not being honored for what it represents, and should be relocated into a more commonly visited area where it can be properly honored by the people; now, therefore, be it

AR23,2,2 Resolved by the assembly, That the Wisconsin State Assembly calls for the We the People mural to be relocated to the West ground floor hallway, beneath the assembly chambers, where it can represent the people in a location closest to the legislature.
