AJR84,1,42 Whereas, Bob Uecker, affectionately known as “Mr. Baseball,” is a beloved
3former baseball player, actor, and current broadcaster for the Milwaukee Brewers;
4and
AJR84,1,65 Whereas, Bob Uecker is known as the “Voice of the Brewers” for his tenured
6career as a broadcaster for the Milwaukee Brewers since 1971; and
AJR84,1,87 Whereas, in 2020, Bob Uecker marked his 50th year as a broadcaster for the
8Milwaukee Brewers; and
AJR84,1,149 Whereas, Bob Uecker has been recognized for his outstanding career as a
10broadcaster, having been named the Wisconsin Sportscaster of the Year five times,
11inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame in 2001 and the National
12Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association Hall of Fame in 2011, and awarded the
13Ford C. Frick Award in 2003 from the Baseball Hall of Fame, which is awarded
14annually for “meritorious service by baseball broadcasters”; and

1Whereas, Bob Uecker had a career in acting, known for his numerous
2appearances on Johnny Carson's Tonight Show, his role as the character George
3Owens in the show Mr. Belvedere, and appearances in Miller Lite commercials and
4several movies, including Major League; and
AJR84,2,65 Whereas, Bob Uecker had a 12-year baseball career, playing in the minor
6league for six years for affiliates of the Milwaukee Braves; and
AJR84,2,87 Whereas, during the first year of his baseball career, Bob Uecker played for the
8Eau Claire Bears, an affiliate of the Milwaukee Braves; and
AJR84,2,119 Whereas, Bob Uecker made his major league debut in 1962 with the Milwaukee
10Braves and played in the major league for six seasons on various teams as a catcher
11until 1967; and
AJR84,2,1512 Whereas, during his baseball career, Bob Uecker was known for his defensive
13skills as a catcher, finishing his career with a fielding percentage of .981 and leading
14the National League in the most passed balls in the 1967 season, and winning a
15World Series championship with the St. Louis Cardinals in 1964; and
AJR84,2,2016 Whereas, the Milwaukee Brewers have honored Bob Uecker's service to the
17team by dedicating a statue to him in 2012 and another statue in 2014 called the
18Uecker “Last Row” statue in the section of the stadium dubbed the “Uecker Seats,”
19as a tribute to his famous tagline from a Miller Lite ad: “I must be in the front row”;
20and
AJR84,2,2321 Whereas, Bob Uecker, a Wisconsin native who was born and raised in
22Milwaukee, has spent the majority of his career and life dedicated to baseball and
23serving the Milwaukee Brewers; now, therefore, be it

2Wisconsin Legislature honor the career, accomplishments, and service of Bob Uecker
3to the state of Wisconsin.
