AJR61,1,1 Relating to: honoring the life and public service of Dr. Lori Weyers.

AJR61,1,4 Whereas, after a long and successful career in higher education, Dr. Lori Weyers, the President of the Northcentral Technical College, announced her forthcoming retirement in June 2021; and

AJR61,1,8 Whereas, she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and Behavioral Disabilities, Master of Science Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling/Administration, and her Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from the University of Wisconsin-Madison; and

AJR61,1,12 Whereas, prior to serving as President of the Northcentral Technical College, she served as the Vice President for Learning at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College and as an executive dean, dean, coordinator, and faculty member at Fox Valley Technical College; and

AJR61,1,15 Whereas, while serving as the President of the Northcentral Technical College for the last 15 years, she worked tirelessly to broaden access to education and increase students' educational and career opportunities; and

AJR61,2,3 Whereas, she launched the “Northcentral Technical College Promise,” or the “NTC Promise,” a program that provides free college tuition to qualified students for up to four consecutive semesters; and

AJR61,2,7 Whereas, Dr. Lori Weyers was instrumental in establishing Northcentral Technical College's Virtual College, a flexible online learning program that offers a number of associate degrees, technical diplomas, and certificates as well as professional development and continuing education courses; and

AJR61,2,9 Whereas, she expanded dual credit opportunities for high school students to earn college credits while still attending high school; and

AJR61,2,11 Whereas, she fostered a historic credit transfer agreement with Wisconsin's private colleges and universities; and

AJR61,2,14 Whereas, she signed a Liberal Arts Transfer program agreement with Madison College to give NTC students the opportunity to transfer to UW System schools or other higher educational institutions throughout the country; and

AJR61,2,18 Whereas, recognizing that education is the great social equalizer, she played a pivotal role in reducing students' structural and financial barriers and in offering a number of innovative pathways for students to obtain the education and training they need to achieve their academic and career goals; and

AJR61,2,21 Whereas, throughout her 42-year career in higher education, Dr. Lori Weyers has worked to ensure an affordable, flexible, high-quality education for countless students; now, therefore, be it

AJR61,2,24 Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin Legislature join in honoring the life and public service of Dr. Lori Weyers and wish her all the best in her retirement.
