10system of white supremacy have intensified anti-Asian hate and violence over the

Whereas, the use of anti-Asian rhetoric has resulted in Asian Americans being
13harassed, assaulted, and scapegoated for the COVID–19 pandemic; and

Whereas, violence and hate crimes against Asian Americans have increased by
15150 percent in major U.S. cities; and

1Whereas, in the last year, Asian American and Pacific Islander women made
2up 68 percent of the 3,800 incidents against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders;

Whereas, since the start of year 2021, there has been a surge in anti-Asian
5attacks targeting elderly Asian Americans; and

Whereas, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centers for Disease
7Control and Prevention (CDC) recognize that naming COVID–19 by its geographic
8location or linking it to a specific ethnicity perpetuates stigma; and

assembly, the senate concurring, That the Wisconsin
12Legislature condemns violence of all forms against the APIDA community; and, be

14Resolved, That the Wisconsin Legislature condemns all acts of racism,
15xenophobia, discrimination, anti-Asian sentiment, scapegoating, and ethnic or
16religious intolerance; and, be it further
