AJR150,1,2 Relating to: condemning Russia's unprovoked assault on Ukraine and standing in solidarity with the Ukrainian people.

AJR150,1,5 Whereas, on February 24, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared the start of a “special military operation” in Ukraine that has threatened the nation's sovereignty and democratically elected government; and

AJR150,1,8 Whereas, hundreds of thousands of Russian troops have been deployed to assault Ukraine on multiple fronts in what has become a full-scale invasion and the largest mobilization of military forces in Europe since World War II; and

AJR150,1,11 Whereas, in the days since the invasion of Ukraine has begun, the densely populated cities of Kyiv, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Mariupol, and Kherson, among many others, have faced ground fighting, airstrikes, and occupation by Russian forces; and

AJR150,1,14 Whereas, in multiple cities, Russian forces have begun targeting residential neighborhoods, hospitals, and radio and television towers with increasingly powerful weapons; and

AJR150,2,4 Whereas, just days into the invasion, hundreds of Ukrainian civilians have been killed, thousands are without power or heat in freezing temperatures, and more than half a million refugees have fled the country in harsh conditions seeking safety; and

AJR150,2,7 Whereas, Russian troops have been met with resistance across the country by both Ukrainian military forces and courageous civilians who have joined the war effort in pursuit of a free and democratic Ukraine; now, therefore, be it

AJR150,2,11 Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the Wisconsin State Legislature condemns the unprovoked invasion on Ukraine and stands in solidarity with the Ukrainian people as they risk their lives to defend their sovereignty.
