AJR147,1,32 Whereas, water is vitally important to all of us in Wisconsin as a requirement
3of our daily lives; and
AJR147,1,54 Whereas, water is also central to Wisconsin's success as a center of tourism,
5agriculture, food production, and industry; and
AJR147,1,96 Whereas, our state's lakes, rivers, streams, and wetlands provide habitat to
7wildlife and benefit the people of Wisconsin with ample recreation and sporting
8opportunities, and the health of these waters serves all of us in the state, from flood
9protection to quality of life; and
AJR147,1,1410 Whereas, healthy waters are culturally recognized by Wisconsin Native
11Nations, including elders, tribal councils, water walkers, and conservation
12professionals, as a critical foundation for maintaining traditional ways and
13ceremonies, sustaining hunting and fishing territories, and retaining a bright future
14for our next generations; and

1Whereas, the people of Wisconsin enshrined the right to access, use, and protect
2the waters of the state in the Public Trust Doctrine of the Wisconsin Constitution,
3and through a history of legislation and legal decisions that protect and conserve our
4waters; and
AJR147,2,85 Whereas, the Wisconsin Lakes Partnership works to support, protect, and
6improve our lakes, rivers, and streams and educate the public about these efforts,
7with the goal of making all our lives better and making Wisconsin a better place to
8live; and
AJR147,2,119 Whereas, the Wisconsin Lakes Partnership is a creator and supporter of
10Wisconsin Water Week 2022 and has led a campaign of awareness regarding water
11issues in the state; and
AJR147,2,1412 Whereas, Wisconsin Water Week 2022 is April 4–8, 2022, and includes the 2022
13Wisconsin Lakes and Rivers Convention to be held April 6–8, 2022, in Stevens Point,
14Wisconsin; now, therefore, be it
AJR147,2,19 15Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
16Wisconsin Legislature join in declaring April 4–8, 2022, as Wisconsin Water Week
172022 and join also in recognizing and appreciating the work of the Wisconsin Lakes
18Partnership and water advocates around the state in keeping our state waters
19sparkling, shining, and safe.
