SJR78,1,22 Whereas, on November 1, 2018, Terry Musser passed away at the age of 70; and
SJR78,1,43 Whereas, Musser served in the Wisconsin Assembly for 24 years from 1985 to
42009, representing the people of the 92nd Assembly District; and
SJR78,1,65 Whereas, Musser was born in Black River Falls, Wisconsin, in 1947 to La Von
6and Millard Musser; and
SJR78,1,87 Whereas, Musser attended the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse from 1973
8to 1976; and
SJR78,1,99 Whereas, Musser worked as a driver's license examiner and a dairy farmer; and
SJR78,1,1210 Whereas, during his 24 years in the Assembly, Musser served on a variety of
11committees, including as the chairperson for the Committee on Veterans and
12Military Affairs from 1995 to 2003; and
SJR78,1,1513 Whereas, in 1996, Musser received the Legislator of the Year award by the
14Vietnam Veterans of America, becoming the first state legislator to receive the
15award; and

1Whereas, Musser was known in the legislature for his bipartisanship and for
2his work on veterans issues; and
SJR78,2,43 Whereas, after retiring from the Assembly, Musser returned to working on his
4dairy farm; and
SJR78,2,75 Whereas, Musser was a lifetime member of several veteran organizations,
6including the Vietnam Vets Chapter 3, Vietnam Veterans of America, American
7Legion, Disabled American Veterans, AMVETS, and Veterans of Foreign Wars; and
SJR78,2,118 Whereas, Musser enjoyed spending time outdoors deer hunting, feeding and
9watching birds, and mowing the lawn and spending time caring for his dogs, playing
10sheep's head, and watching sports, especially the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee
11Brewers, and Wisconsin Badgers; and
SJR78,2,1312 Whereas, Musser and his wife of 51 years, Elaine, lived on Elaine's family farm
13with their family in Irving, Wisconsin, for 41 years; and
SJR78,2,1614 Whereas, Musser is survived by Elaine, his son, Laine, his daughter, Terilyn,
15his mother, La Von, five grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter; now
16therefore, be it
SJR78,2,19 17Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the members of the
18Wisconsin Legislature salute the life and public service of Terry Musser and mourn
19his passing; and, be it further
SJR78,2,21 20Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall provide a copy of this joint
21resolution to his family.
