SJR67,1,1 1Relating to: honoring the life and public service of Dennis Burns.
SJR67,1,42 Whereas, Dennis Burns served the Wisconsin State Senate as the Deputy
3Sergeant-at-Arms and retired in July after more than 30 years of dedicated service
4to the people of Wisconsin, including work in the Wisconsin State Assembly; and
SJR67,1,65 Whereas, Dennis served our nation in the United States Air Force during the
6Vietnam War; and
SJR67,1,97 Whereas, Dennis had a deep love for collecting vintage muscle cars and riding
8motorcycles. He rode his motorcycles across the country and often participated in the
9annual Muscular Dystrophy Association Freedom Ride; and
SJR67,1,1110 Whereas, Dennis had a loving family including his wife, Olga, three children,
11seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild; and
SJR67,1,1312 Whereas, Dennis bravely battled cancer for the last 12 years while
13simultaneously continuing his excellent work as Deputy Sergeant-at-Arms; and

1Whereas, Dennis passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2019. He will be
2greatly missed by his family, friends, and colleagues in the Wisconsin State
3Legislature; now, therefore, be it
SJR67,2,7 4Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the members of the
5Wisconsin State Legislature join in honoring the life and public service of Dennis
6Burns on a tremendous lifelong career of service to our nation and the State of
7Wisconsin and extend our condolences to his family and friends; and, be it further
SJR67,2,9 8Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall provide copies of this joint
9resolution to Dennis's wife, Olga Pristash, and his family.
