SJR50,1,1 Relating to: honoring June 2019 as Wisconsin Fatherhood Month.

SJR50,1,3 Whereas, the family is a major social institution that provides tremendous value to both its members and society as a whole; and

SJR50,1,6 Whereas, the family social unit may be forged by blood, marriage, foster care, or adoption, and may be both nuclear, encompassing parents and children, and extended, encompassing other relatives; and

SJR50,1,8 Whereas, around the world and all across Wisconsin, fathers have played and continue to play a crucial role in families; and

SJR50,1,11 Whereas, the role of father can be fulfilled by fathers, stepfathers, grandfathers, uncles, brothers, foster care and respite caretakers, and other guardians or role models; and

SJR50,1,14 Whereas, states can support dads and facilitate their involvement in their children's lives, which increase a father's ability to meet the financial and emotional needs of their children; and

SJR50,2,2 Whereas, the number of families with single fathers are increasing in our state; and

SJR50,2,4 Whereas, fathers provide guidance, support, and encouragement to their families; and

SJR50,2,6 Whereas, Father's Day is celebrated in June across Wisconsin and the country; now, therefore, be it

SJR50,2,10 Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That that the members of the legislature call upon the people of Wisconsin to observe June as Wisconsin Fatherhood Month with respect and admiration to fathers in our state; and, be it further

SJR50,2,13 Resolved, That that the legislature calls upon the people of Wisconsin to express their respect, admiration, and gratitude to fathers everywhere; and, be it further

SJR50,2,15 Resolved, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to the Governor of Wisconsin.
