2019 - 2020 LEGISLATURE
January 30, 2020 - Introduced by Senator LeMahieu, cosponsored by
Representative Magnafici. Referred to Committee on Transportation,
Veterans and Military Affairs.
SB768,1,2
1An Act to amend 285.30 (5) (c); and
to create 285.30 (5) (m) of the statutes;
2relating to: exempting autocycles from emission inspections.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Current law requires the Department of Transportation to conduct a motor
vehicle emissions inspection and maintenance program in counties in which the air
quality does not meet certain federal standards. Under the program, most motor
vehicles that are subject to emissions limitations established by the Department of
Natural Resources must pass periodic emissions inspections and may not be
registered by DOT unless they have passed these inspections. Certain motor vehicles
are exempt from emissions inspections, including mopeds, motorcycles, and off-road
utility vehicles. This bill exempts autocycles from emissions inspections.
For further information see the state fiscal estimate, which will be printed as
an appendix to this bill.
