SB394,1,2 1An Act to create 97.67 (5m) (c) of the statutes; relating to: electronic health
2records at recreational and educational camps.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current rules promulgated by the Department of Agriculture, Trade and
Consumer Protection, health services staff at an overnight recreational or
educational camp must make a record in a bound book with preprinted pages each
time a medication is administered or a treatment is provided to a camper or staff
member. This bill requires DATCP to allow these records to be maintained
electronically, if done in a system that documents each change to the health record
and that does not allow previous changes to be edited or deleted.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
SB394,1 3Section 1 . 97.67 (5m) (c) of the statutes is created to read:
SB394,2,24 97.67 (5m) (c) If the department requires health services staff to make a record
5of medication administered or treatment provided to a camper or staff member, the
6department shall allow such records to be made and maintained electronically, if

1done in a system that documents each change to the health record and that does not
2allow previous changes to the health record to be edited or deleted.
