SB372,1,2 1An Act to create 8.21 (7) of the statutes; relating to: requiring candidates for
2president or vice president to file tax returns with the Elections Commission.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill requires each candidate for president or vice president to submit with
his or her declaration of candidacy copies of the candidate's federal tax returns for
the three most recent years for which the candidate filed such returns.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
SB372,1 3Section 1. 8.21 (7) of the statutes is created to read:
SB372,2,24 8.21 (7) Each candidate for president or vice president shall submit with his
5or her declaration of candidacy copies of the candidate's federal tax returns for the
63 most recent years for which the candidate filed such returns. The commission shall
7post the returns on its Internet site within 48 hours after receiving the returns, but

1shall not disclose any social security or tax identification numbers specified in the
2returns.
