SB360,1,3 1An Act to create 20.285 (1) (em) and 36.27 (3q) of the statutes; relating to:
2resident undergraduate tuition remission at the University of Wisconsin
3System for student teachers and making an appropriation.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill provides full remission of undergraduate tuition to resident
undergraduate students enrolled in a teaching program in a University of Wisconsin
System school during the UW student's semester of student teaching.

an appendix to this bill.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
SB360,1 4Section 1. 20.285 (1) (em) of the statutes is created to read:
SB360,1,75 20.285 (1) (em) Student teacher tuition remission. A sum sufficient to
6reimburse the University of Wisconsin System for student teacher tuition remissions
7under s. 36.27 (3q).
SB360,2 8Section 2. 36.27 (3q) of the statutes is created to read:

136.27 (3q) Tuition remission for student teachers. (a) In this subsection,
2“student teacher” means an individual enrolled as a resident undergraduate student
3in the system who is participating in the student teaching component of a teacher
4preparatory program in this state approved by the state superintendent of public
5instruction under s. 115.28 (7) (a).
SB360,2,76 (b) The board shall grant full remission of resident undergraduate tuition to
7student teachers during their semester of student teaching.
SB360,2,98 (c) The cost to the system of remissions under this subsection shall be paid from
9the appropriation account under s. 20.285 (1) (em).
SB360,3 10Section 3 . Initial applicability.
SB360,2,1211 (1) This act first applies to individuals who commence student teaching in the
12first semester that begins after the effective date of this subsection.
SB360,4 13Section 4 . Effective date.
SB360,2,1514 (1) This act takes effect on the first day of the 3rd month beginning after
15publication.
