1Relating to: proclaiming February 2020 to be American Heart Month in Wisconsin.
2 Whereas, heart disease and stroke are responsible for close to one-third of
3deaths in Wisconsin; and
4 Whereas, an estimated 80 percent of cardiovascular disease can be prevented;
5and
6 Whereas, increasing community awareness of the risks, such as high blood
7pressure, high cholesterol, smoking, and lack of regular physical activity, can
8improve and focus prevention efforts in Wisconsin; and
9 Whereas, communities, health professionals, and families can work together to
10create opportunities for healthier lifestyles; and
11 Whereas, individuals should talk to their health care provider today to learn
12about the following five numbers to better understand their risks for cardiovascular
13disease:
14 1. Total cholesterol
15 2. HDL (good) cholesterol

13. Blood pressure
2 4. Blood sugar
3 5. Body mass index (BMI); now, therefore, be it
4Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the legislature, in
5recognition of the importance of the ongoing fight against heart disease and stroke,
6does hereby proclaim February 2020 to be American Heart Month in Wisconsin.
