AB742,1,2 An Act relating to: emergency medical services funding assistance and making an appropriation.

This bill increases the amount of funding for emergency medical services assistance. Current law requires the Department of Health Services to provide emergency medical services funding to ambulance service providers that are public agencies, volunteer fire departments, or nonprofit corporations to assist in paying for training and examinations for emergency medical technicians, who were previously known as emergency medical technicians — basic, and emergency medical responders and for ambulances, equipment, or supplies. Current law allows an ambulance service provider that receives this funding assistance to escrow any unused funds to spend in a subsequent year for training and credentialing of emergency medical responders or emergency medical services practitioners at any level.

AB742,1 Section 1. Fiscal changes.

AB742,2,7 (1) Emergency medical services funding assistance. In the schedule under s. 20.005 (3) for the appropriation to the department of health services under s. 20.435 (1) (ch), the dollar amount for fiscal year 2019-20 is increased by $239,800 for the purposes for which the appropriation is made. In the schedule under s. 20.005 (3) for the appropriation to the department of health services under s. 20.435 (1) (ch), the dollar amount for fiscal year 2020-21 is increased by $239,800 for the purposes for which the appropriation is made.
