AB678,1,2 1An Act to create 343.243 of the statutes; relating to: collection of motor vehicle
2traffic stop information.

This bill requires that, whenever a law enforcement officer accesses, for a
purpose related to a motor vehicle stop, an operator's license, permit, or
identification card record maintained by the Department of Transportation, DOT
must record the race, ethnicity, zip code, and gender of the person whose record is
accessed.

an appendix to this bill.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB678,1 3Section 1 . 343.243 of the statutes is created to read:
AB678,2,2 4343.243 Motor vehicle traffic stop information. When a law enforcement
5officer accesses, for a purpose related to a motor vehicle stop, an operator's license,
6permit, or identification card record maintained by the department, the department

1shall record the race, ethnicity, zip code, and gender of the person whose record is
2accessed.
