1An Act to amend 20.395 (2) (cq) of the statutes;
relating to: harbor assistance

Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, the Department of Transportation administers a harbor
assistance program. Under the program, an eligible applicant may be awarded a
grant to partially reimburse the applicant for expenses incurred in making certain
harbor improvements. This bill requires DOT to award a harbor assistance grant of
not more than $1,500,000 to the city of Green Bay for harbor improvements related
to port expansion and the relocation of coal piles.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:

Nonstatutory provisions.

(1) In the 2019-2020 fiscal year, from the appropriations under ss. 20.395 (2)
6(cq) and 20.866 (2) (uv), notwithstanding the eligibility criteria under s. 85.095, the
7department of transportation shall award a grant under s. 85.095 (2) (a) to the city
8of Green Bay for harbor improvements related to port expansion and the relocation
9of coal piles. Notwithstanding s. 85.095 (2) (a), the amount of the grant awarded
10under this subsection shall be $1,500,000 or the total cost of the project, whichever
11is less.
