1An Act relating to: skills enhancement grants and making an appropriation.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill increases funding for skills enhancement programs by $250,000 per
fiscal year in fiscal years 2019-20 and 2020-21. Under current law, the Department
of Children and Families provides $250,000 in each fiscal year to community action
agencies to provide skills enhancement programs for individuals who work at least
20 hours per week and whose income is at or below 150 percent of the federal poverty
line. The services currently provided under these programs include access to
transportation, child care, career counseling, job placement assistance, and financial
support for education and training.

(1) This act takes effect on July 1, 2019, or the day after the publication of the
62019 biennial budget act, whichever is later.
