AB1009,1,2 1An Act relating to: grants to local law enforcement agencies for incident-based
2reporting and making an appropriation.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill provides $600,000 in funding for the 2021-22 fiscal year for the
Department of Justice to provide grants to local law enforcement agencies in order
to facilitate the transition to the use of incident-based reporting for crime data.
For further information see the state and local fiscal estimate, which will be
printed as an appendix to this bill.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB1009,1 3Section 1. Fiscal changes.
AB1009,1,84 (1) Grants to local law enforcement agencies for incident-based reporting.
5In the schedule under s. 20.005 (3) for the appropriation to the department of justice
6under s. 20.455 (2) (a), the dollar amount for fiscal year 2021-22 is increased by
7$600,000 to provide grants to local law enforcement agencies to facilitate the
8transition to the use of incident-based reporting for crime data.

1Section 2. Effective date.
AB1009,2,32 (1) This act takes effect on July 1, 2021, or on the 2nd day after publication of
3the 2021 biennial budget act, whichever is later.
