20XX Senate Resolution X
ENGROSSED RESOLUTION
Relating to: honoring the life and public service of Representative Jim Ladwig.
Whereas, Eldor James “Jim” Ladwig, who devoted much of his life to serving his state and his country, passed away on March 28, 2023, at the age of 84; and
Whereas, Jim Ladwig was born on April 13, 1938, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and graduated from Milwaukee Riverside High School; and
Whereas, Jim Ladwig married Bonnie Adams on December 19, 1958, forming a partnership lasting 62 years; and
Whereas, Jim Ladwig graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a B.S. in 1960 and an M.S. in 1961; and
Whereas, in 1962, Jim Ladwig began his career in public service, ultimately serving as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army; and
Whereas, Jim Ladwig continued his public service on a local level by serving as the Caledonia Town Supervisor from 1971 to 1973, as the Racine County Supervisor from 1974 to 1978, and in other organizations in the Racine Community; and
Whereas, in 1978, Jim Ladwig transitioned to serving the State of Wisconsin upon his election as the representative from the 63rd district, a position he held for six terms before being succeeded by his wife, Bonnie, in 1993; and
Whereas, upon his retirement from public service and his decades-long career at Robert W. Baird, Jim Ladwig enjoyed splitting his time between his communities in Racine, Wisconsin, and Lake Placid, Florida; and
Whereas, outside of his work, Jim Ladwig was known as a dedicated alumnus and avid fan of the Badgers, a pickleball player and golfer, a faithful Christian, and a man with an infectious sense of humor and kind heart; and
Whereas, Jim Ladwig leaves behind his three loving children, Laura, Linda, and Jim, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many dear friends; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, That the members of the Wisconsin State Assembly join in honoring the life, memory, and public service of Representative Jim Ladwig and extend their deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.
