2021 Senate Joint Resolution 70
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: recognizing October 28, 2021, as First Responders Appreciation Day in Wisconsin.
Whereas, October 28, 2021, is recognized nationally as First Responders Appreciation Day; and
Whereas, first responders include all professional and volunteer police, fire, and emergency medical services (EMS) personnel; and
Whereas, first responders risk their safety on a daily basis to protect the public from threats and emergency situations and provide lifesaving services; and
Whereas, first responders stand ready to serve and protect the public 24 hours per day; and
Whereas, there are approximately 4.6 million first responders in the United States serving in disciplines such as law enforcement, emergency management, emergency medical services, fire and rescue, and public works; and
Whereas, in Wisconsin, there are over 9,400 career fire fighters, 13,700 law enforcement officers, 9,900 career EMS personnel, and 23,000 volunteer fire fighters and EMS providers; and
Whereas, first responders are vital to ensuring safety and security in our nation, state, and communities and deserve to be honored and recognized for their commitment to providing safety and lifesaving services; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the Wisconsin Legislature recognizes October 28, 2021, as First Responders Appreciation Day.
