Juveniles placed at Mendota Juvenile Treatment Center
Under current law, DOC may transfer to the Mendota Juvenile Treatment Center (MJTC) juveniles who are under DOC’s supervision or juveniles who are placed in a Type 1 juvenile correctional facility regardless of whether those juveniles are under the supervision of DOC or a county department of social services or human services. Current law requires DOC to reimburse DHS for the cost of providing services to these juveniles at MJTC at a per person daily cost specified by DHS. This bill specifies that DOC is required to reimburse DHS only for the cost of services provided to juveniles who are under DOC’s supervision and are transferred to MJTC.
For further information see the state fiscal estimate, which will be printed as an appendix to this bill.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:
Section 1. 46.057 (2) of the statutes is amended to read:
46.057 (2) From the appropriation account under s. 20.410 (3) (ba) or (hm), the department of corrections shall reimburse the department of health services for the cost of providing services for juveniles who are under the supervision of the department of corrections and are placed at the Mendota juvenile treatment center at a per person daily cost specified by the department of health services. The department of health services may charge the department of corrections not more than the actual cost of providing those services.
