Medical Assistance waiver for health-related social needs
This bill directs DHS to request a waiver from the federal Department of Health and Human Services to provide reimbursement for services for health-related social needs under the Medical Assistance program. Under the bill, DHS must provide reimbursement for those services if the waiver is granted. The Medical Assistance program is a joint federal and state program that provides health services to individuals who have limited financial resources.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:
Section 1. 49.45 (25d) of the statutes is created to read:
49.45 (25d) Health-related social needs. The department shall request a waiver from the federal department of health and human services to provide reimbursement for services for health-related social needs under the Medical Assistance program. If the waiver is granted, the department shall provide reimbursement for services for health-related social needs under this subsection.
