SJR63-ASA1,1,1 1Relating to: public policy regarding plans that establish state legislative districts.
SJR63-ASA1,1,32 Whereas, the Wisconsin Constitution requires the state to reapportion the state
3legislative districts after each federal census; now, therefore, be it
SJR63-ASA1,1,5 4Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That it is the public
5policy of this state that plans establishing legislative districts should:
SJR63-ASA1,1,66 1. Comply with federal and state law;
SJR63-ASA1,1,87 2. Ensure that voters be the ones who choose their representatives and not
8representatives choosing their voters;
SJR63-ASA1,1,109 3. Put in place a process of drawing legislative maps that is fair, transparent,
10and nonpartisan while promoting accountability to voters;
SJR63-ASA1,1,1211 4. Start from the principle that maps shall not be politically biased, nor shall
12they be used by one political party to hold onto power;

15. Not be drawn by private attorneys hired at a high cost to taxpayers behind
