ASSEMBLY AMENDMENT 1, TO ASSEMBLY BILL 36

AB36-AA1,1,1 At the locations indicated, amend the bill as follows:

AB36-AA1,1,2 1. Page 4, line 1: after “2." insert “a.".

AB36-AA1,1,3 2. Page 4, line 4: after that line insert:

AB36-AA1,1,8 “b. The self-assessment questionnaire shall state and the patient shall acknowledge on the self-assessment questionnaire that a hormonal contraceptive patch or a self-administered oral hormonal contraceptive is not protection against sexually transmitted diseases, which may have a significant negative impact on reproductive and general health.

AB36-AA1,1,12 c. The patient shall acknowledge on the self-assessment questionnaire that it is strongly recommended that the patient annually meet with a physician or other medical professional to discuss the patient's prescribed hormonal contraceptive treatment and other routine preventive care.”.

AB36-AA1,1,13 3. Page 4, line 25: after that line insert:

AB36-AA1,2,6 “5. The rules promulgated under subd. 1. shall permit any qualified pharmacy employee to provide a self-assessment questionnaire required under subd. 3. a. and administer a blood pressure screening required under subd. 4. a. if a pharmacist reviews the results of the self-assessment questionnaire and the blood pressure screening before prescribing and dispensing any hormonal contraceptive patch or self-administered oral hormonal contraceptive to a patient.”.

AB36-AA1,2,8 “(2) (a) In this subsection:

AB36-AA1,2,9 1. “Drug” has the meaning given in s. 450.01 (10).

AB36-AA1,2,10 2. “Drug product” has the meaning given in s. 450.01 (11).

AB36-AA1,2,11 3. “Pharmacist” has the meaning given in s. 450.01 (15).

AB36-AA1,2,14 (b) The department of health services shall research and determine whether pharmacists could safely prescribe and dispense drugs or drug products in addition to those products prescribed and dispensed under s. 450.095.

AB36-AA1,2,17 (c) The department of health services shall submit a report to the appropriate standing committees of the legislature upon request that includes a summary of the results of the research under par. (b) and all of the following:

AB36-AA1,2,20 1. A list of all drugs and drug products that the department believes may be prescribed and dispensed in a similar manner to hormonal contraceptives under s. 450.095.

AB36-AA1,2,23 2. A description of any standards that the department of health services believes are necessary to allow pharmacists to safely prescribe and dispense the drugs and drug products listed in subd. 1.”.
