AB302-ASA1,1,4 1An Act to create 196.49 (5g) (ar) 1s. of the statutes; relating to: meter
2installation, repair, or replacement projects by water utilities and modifying
3administrative rules related to meter installation, repair, or replacement
4projects.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill exempts water public utilities and combined water and sewer public
utilities from needing a certificate of authority issued by the Public Service
Commission before beginning customer meter installation, repair, or replacement
projects. Current law generally requires utilities to obtain a certificate of authority
from PSC before engaging in certain construction, installation, or improvement
projects.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB302-ASA1,1 5Section 1. 196.49 (5g) (ar) 1s. of the statutes is created to read:
AB302-ASA1,2,4
1196.49 (5g) (ar) 1s. The project is to be completed by a water public utility, a
2combined water and sewer public utility, or an entity contracted by a water public
3utility or a combined water and sewer public utility and is for the purpose of
4installing, repairing, or replacing meters to measure service to customers.
AB302-ASA1,2 5Section 2. PSC 184.03 (4) (c) of the administrative code is amended to read:
AB302-ASA1,2,66 PSC 184.03 (4) (c) Routine meter Meter installation, repair, or replacement.
AB302-ASA1,3 7Section 3. Effective dates. This act takes effect on the day after publication,
8except as follows:
AB302-ASA1,2,109 (1) Administrative rules. The treatment of administrative rules takes effect
10as provided in s. 227.265.
