SENATE AMENDMENT 1, TO SENATE BILL 300

September 16, 2019 - Offered by Senators Cowles and Miller.

SB300-SA1,1,1 At the locations indicated, amend the bill as follows:

SB300-SA1,1,3 1. Page 2, line 3: after “s. 146.81 (1)," insert “who have a specific focus on the diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases,".

SB300-SA1,1,4 2. Page 2, line 12: delete “Two" and substitute “Three".

SB300-SA1,1,5 3. Page 2, line 21: after that line insert:

SB300-SA1,1,9 “12. One technical director, or the equivalent, of a clinical microbiology laboratory, including, but not limited to, a person who is board certified by the American Board of Medical Microbiology to direct a medical and public health microbiology laboratory, appointed by the governor.

SB300-SA1,1,10 13. One pharmacist, appointed by the governor.”.

SB300-SA1,2,3 4. Page 3, line 9: delete the material beginning with “people" and ending with “disease" on line 10 and substitute “patients about the increased potential of receiving a false negative test in the early stages of a tick-borne disease and the potential for a false positive test, along with recommendations to educate providers on how to interpret these tests, when testing is appropriate, and how to communicate test results to patients”.
