* Section 991.11, Wisconsin Statutes: Effective date of acts. “Every act and every portion of an act enacted by the legislature over the governor's partial veto which does not expressly prescribe the time when it takes effect shall take effect on the day after its date of publication.”

2025 WISCONSIN ACT 7

An Act to amend 19.36 (14) of the statutes; to affect 2023 Wisconsin Act 126, section 35 (1) and 2023 Wisconsin Act 126, section 35 (1m); relating to: the effective date of certain provisions contained in 2023 Wisconsin Act 126 and the public records exception for election officials.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

7,1m Section 1m. 19.36 (14) of the statutes, as created by 2023 Wisconsin Act 126, is amended to read:

19.36 (14) Identities of election officials or election registration officials. Unless access is specifically authorized or required by statute, an authority shall not provide access under s. 19.35 (1) to records containing the personally identifiable information of an a current or former election official, as defined in s. 5.02 (4e), or an election registration official, as defined in s. 5.02 (4g), who submits a written request to the authority requesting that the information be kept confidential, except that an authority may provide access to the name of an election official or election registration such current or former official and the city and state where the official resides.

7,1s Section 1s. 2023 Wisconsin Act 126, section 35 (1) is renumbered 2023 Wisconsin Act 126, section 35 and amended to read:

7,2 Section 2. 2023 Wisconsin Act 126, section 35 (1m) is created to read:

[2023 Wisconsin Act 126] Section 35 (1m) The treatment of ss. 5.02 (4v), 11.0101 (1) (a) 1. and 2., (14), and (34), 11.0102 (title), (1), (2) (a) and (b), and (3), 11.0103 (1) (b) and (3) (b), 11.0104 (1) (a) and (d) and (2), 11.0105 (1) (a), 11.0202 (1) (a), 11.0203 (1) (c), 11.0204 (7), 11.0304 (7), 11.0404 (4), 11.1101 (1) (h) 2., (2) (h) 2., (3) (k) 2., and (4) (k) 2., 11.1106 (3), 11.1201, 11.1304 (1), (5), and (6) (a), 202.12 (5) (a) 2., and 755.01 (2) and (4) takes effect on December 1, 2027.

7,3 Section 3. Effective dates. This act takes effect on the day after publication, except as follows:

(1) The treatment of s. 19.36 (14) takes effect on July 1, 2025, or on the day after publication, whichever is later.
