Notice of Hearing

The Department of Natural Resources announces that it will hold a public hearing on the Statement of Scope for Board Order WM-01-19, to revise ch. NR 10, Wis. Admin. Code, relating to black bear management, at the time and place shown below.

Proposed Scope of Rule-Making:

This rule will implement changes related to bear management and hunting regulations that have emerged from the Department’s 2019 bear management plan. Some of the objectives from this plan may include adjusting the bear management zone boundaries, creating new bear management zones, and changing how harvest quota decisions are made.

Additional rule changes may be pursued which are reasonably related to those discussed here.

This rule may make additional updates such as correcting cross-reference citations, updating road names on maps, changes needed to update application forms, or revisions which are necessary for consistency with recently enacted legislation.

The public has the opportunity to testify at the hearing. Registration will take place at the hearing by completing a Hearing Appearance form, which will be provided. Comments on the proposed rule must be received on or before September 6, 2019. The Hearing Appearance form also can be used for submitting a written comment at the hearing. Written comments may be submitted by U.S. mail, fax, E-mail, or through the internet and will have the same weight and effect as oral statements presented at the public hearing.
