1An Act to create
20.255 (1) (ep) and 115.28 (63) of the statutes; relating to:
2mental health training program and making an appropriation.

This bill requires the Department of Public Instruction to provide trainings on
the screening, brief intervention, and referral to treatment program, an
evidence-based strategy related to addressing mental health issues in schools, to
school district personnel and independent charter school personnel.
For further information see the state fiscal estimate, which will be printed as
an appendix to this bill.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
20.005 (3) (schedule) of the statutes: at the appropriate place, insert 4
the following amounts for the purposes indicated:

. Establish a mental health 6
training support program under which the department provides training on the 7
screening, brief intervention, and referral to treatment program, an evidence-based 8
strategy related to addressing mental health issues in schools, to school district staff 9
and instructional staff of charter schools under s. 118.40 (2r) or (2x).
(1) Mental health training program.
In the schedule under section 20.005 (3) 12
of the statutes for the appropriation to the department of public instruction under 13
section 20.255 (1) (ep) of the statutes the dollar amount for fiscal year 2017-18 is 14
increased by $100,000 to increase funding for the purpose for which the 15
appropriation is made. In the schedule under section 20.005 (3) of the statutes for 16
the appropriation to the department of public instruction under section 20.255 (1) 17
(ep) of the statutes the dollar amount for fiscal year 2018-19 is increased by $100,000 18
to increase funding for the purpose for which the appropriation is made.
