SJR79,1,43 Whereas, this year, an estimated 64,050 adults in the United States will be
4diagnosed with pancreatic cancer; and
SJR79,1,65 Whereas, it is estimated that 50,550 deaths from this disease will occur this
6year; and
SJR79,1,87 Whereas, pancreatic cancer is the seventh most common cancer in women and
8the ninth most common cancer in men; and
SJR79,1,109 Whereas, this year, it is estimated that there will be 1,020 deaths from
10pancreatic cancer in Wisconsin; and
SJR79,1,1311 Whereas, in 2023, pancreatic cancer may be the third-leading cause of cancer
12deaths in the United States and the second-leading cause of cancer deaths in
13Wisconsin; and

1Whereas, the good health and well-being of the residents of Wisconsin are
2enhanced as a direct result of increased awareness about pancreatic cancer and
3research in early detection, causes, and effective treatments; now, therefore, be it
SJR79,2,7 4Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the Wisconsin
5Legislature proclaims November 2023 to be Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month
6and encourages all citizens to increase awareness of, education for, and services for
7pancreatic cancer in Wisconsin.
