SJR65,1,22 Whereas, August is National Immunization Awareness Month; and
SJR65,1,43 Whereas, nearly a million students will return to Wisconsin schools at the end
4of August and beginning of September; and
SJR65,1,75 Whereas, state law requires K-12 students to receive certain immunizations
6to maintain herd immunity and protect the health of those who are unable to receive
7those immunizations; and
SJR65,1,98 Whereas, immunizations are considered to be one of the greatest modern
9medical discoveries of the past century; and
SJR65,1,1210 Whereas, vaccines are estimated to have prevented 26.8 million
11hospitalizations and 936,000 deaths among children born in the United States
12between 1994 and 2018; and
SJR65,1,1513 Whereas, the World Health Organization estimates that each year,
14immunization prevents 3.5 to 5 million deaths globally due to over 20
15life-threatening diseases; and

1Whereas, vaccinations are necessary and safe for the overwhelming majority
2of people and have been shown to prevent disease across the globe; now, therefore,

5Wisconsin Legislature recognize August 2023 as Immunization Awareness Month in
6Wisconsin.
