SJR118,1,43 Whereas, in December 2023, over 300,000 migrants crossed over the border
4between the United States and Mexico; and
SJR118,1,65 Whereas, this unprecedented surge of migrants risks exposing the country to
6an influx of illegal drugs; and
SJR118,1,87 Whereas, Texas Governor Greg Abbott has pledged to deter migrants in absence
8of tougher border administration by the Biden Administration; and
SJR118,1,119 Whereas, as part of Operation Lone Star, Governor Abbott has installed
10floating barriers and razor wire fences along the Rio Grande, while also deploying
11the Texas National Guard; and
SJR118,1,1312 Whereas, rather than support Governor Abbott, the federal government has
13sued to block these efforts to secure the border; and

1Whereas, 25 governors have announced that they stand in solidarity with
2Governor Abbott in his effort to take action in the midst of federal inaction; now,
