SJR116,1,53 Whereas, the economic impact of Wisconsin's construction industry totaled over
4$50 billion in economic output and contributed over $27 billion to the state's GDP,
5according to the University of Colorado Boulder Leeds School of Business; and
SJR116,1,76 Whereas, an estimated 400,000 new skilled workers are needed nationwide to
7fill construction jobs; and
SJR116,1,98 Whereas, one in five construction workers in Wisconsin is 55 or older, making
9the need to fill construction jobs here even more dire; and
SJR116,1,1210 Whereas, women make up nearly 48 percent of the Wisconsin workforce, but
11only 9 percent of the Wisconsin construction industry workforce, which is below the
12national average of 14 percent; and

1Whereas, national Women in Construction Week highlights the incredible
2initiatives and work of women within the construction industry; and

4appreciation to those women who have contributed to the construction industry,
5while encouraging others to make the same commitment; and
SJR116,2,86 Whereas, by helping to raise awareness of the available opportunities for
7women in the construction industry, the numbers and achievements of women in the
8construction industry can continue to grow; now, therefore, be it
SJR116,2,12 9Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the members of the
10Wisconsin Legislature join in declaring March 3, 2024, to March 9, 2024 as Women
11in Construction Week and celebrating the countless contributions of women
12currently in the construction industry and those who paved the way.
