SB871,1,3 1An Act to amend 119.04 (1); and to create 20.255 (2) (dv) and 115.457 of the
2statutes; relating to: an energy efficiency grant program for school districts,
3granting rule-making authority, and making an appropriation.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill creates a $10,000,000 per year grant program under which the
Department of Public Instruction must award grants to school districts for energy
efficiency projects in school buildings. For the first two school years of the grant
program, DPI must give preference in awarding grants to projects that relate to
heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. DPI may promulgate rules to
implement the grant program.

enact as follows:

SB871,2,10 8(2) In awarding grants under this section for the 2023-24 and 2024-25 school
9years, the department shall give preference to projects that relate to heating,

SB871,3,87 (1) This act takes effect on the day after publication, or on the 2nd day after
8publication of the 2023 biennial budget act, whichever is later.
