Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill requires the Department of Administration to promulgate rules
establishing state agency information technology accessibility standards for
individuals with disabilities consistent with the most recent web content
accessibility guidelines published by the World Wide Web Consortium Web
Accessibility Initiative or its successor. The bill further provides that the
information technology accessibility standards established by DOA apply to all
websites of the legislature and the courts.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
SB831,1 3Section 1. 16.973 (17) of the statutes is created to read:
SB831,2,34 16.973 (17) Promulgate rules establishing agency information technology
5accessibility standards for individuals with disabilities consistent with the most
6recent web content accessibility guidelines published by the World Wide Web

1Consortium Web Accessibility Initiative or its successor. The information technology
2accessibility standards established under this subsection shall apply to all websites
3of the legislature and the courts.
