SB693,1,2 1An Act to create 27.01 (7) (c) 13. of the statutes; relating to: free state park
2admission for veterans and gold star families.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, no person may operate a vehicle in any state park or in
certain other recreational areas on state land unless the vehicle displays a vehicle
admission receipt.
This bill provides that a vehicle admission receipt is not required for any vehicle
occupied by a person who is a veteran under federal law or who qualifies under
federal law for a gold star lapel button (commonly known as gold star family), which
signifies that the recipient is the immediate family member of a member of the U.S.
armed forces who died while serving during a time of conflict.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:

SB693,2,24 27.01 (7) (c) 13. Any vehicle, except a motor bus, occupied by a person who
5produces evidence that he or she is a veteran, as defined in 38 USC 101, or that he

1or she meets any of the eligibility criteria specified in 10 USC 1126 (a) (1) to (3) for
2a gold star lapel button.
