SB360,1,2 1An Act to create 29.601 (4m) of the statutes; relating to: ban on the use of
2certain insecticides by the Department of Natural Resources.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill prohibits, with limited exceptions, the Department of Natural
Resources from using any insecticide from the neonicotinoid class on land
maintained by DNR. Under the bill, this prohibition does not apply to uses of this
insecticide that are 1) pursuant to existing cooperative farming agreements or
contracts or 2) for forest insect control on forested lands, state forest nurseries, or
seed orchards or in designated zones of infestation.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
SB360,1 3Section 1. 29.601 (4m) of the statutes is created to read:
SB360,1,64 29.601 (4m) Use of insecticides. (a) The department may not use any
5insecticide from the neonicotinoid class on land that is acquired and maintained by
6the department as provided under s. 23.09 (2) (d).
SB360,2,27 (b) Paragraph (a) does not apply to insecticides from the neonicotinoid class
8that are used pursuant to a cooperative farming agreement or contract that the

1department entered into prior to the effective date of this subsection .... [LRB inserts

SB360,2,53 (c) Paragraph (a) does not apply to insecticides from the neonicotinoid class
4that are used for forest insect control on forested lands, state forest nurseries, or seed
5orchards or in designated zones of infestation as provided under s. 26.30 (7) (a).
