SB1103,1,3 1An Act to create 20.255 (2) (fi) and 115.403 of the statutes; relating to: grants
2for LGBTQIA+ rights training for school counselors and school social workers

Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under this bill, the Department of Public Instruction must award grants to
school boards to provide training in LGBTQIA+ rights, in a program developed or
approved by DPI, to school counselors and school social workers employed by school
boards. The bill defines “LGBTQIA+” as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer,
intersex, or any other nonheterosexual or noncisgender orientation, identity, or
expression.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:

SB1103,2 1Section 2. 20.255 (2) (fi) of the statutes is created to read:

3for grants under s. 115.403 (2) for training in LGBTQIA+ rights for school counselors
4and school social workers.

SB1103,2,8 6115.403 LGBTQIA+ rights training grants. (1) In this section,
7“LGBTQIA+” means lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, or any other
8nonheterosexual or noncisgender orientation, identity, or expression.
SB1103,2,12 9(2) The department shall award grants to school boards to provide training on
10the rights of LGBTQIA+ individuals, in a program developed or approved by the
11department, to school counselors and school social workers employed by a school
12board.
